Coffee, an original oil painting on canvas.  I painted this last spring.  It was on display for the first time in my solo show at Cafe Doma in NYC.

It hung on a wall near the large tall windows at street level.  The light coming through made the painting really glow.

While painting this, I was especially loving the green tones and the challenge of making that uncooperative shade of green work with the rest of the piece.

The acid-green of the booths in the background is from a velvety rich oil stick made by R & F (a local company in Kingston, NY)

First Post

Happy New Year.  OK here it is, my first post.

Also I must admit my apprehension about writing/ talking about my work.  Much of what happens in my work is intuitive.

I appreciate what the viewer brings to the work.  It's the communication between the painting and the viewer that is important.  No right or wrong answers or questions.  My hope is to bring something of substance to the world, maybe beauty maybe something else -- to enhance the lives of those who encounter my work.

With that said, I will attempt to give the reader a glimpse into my creative process.  I also hope that this blog will bring about accountability for me to my work.  This will hopefully bring focus and clarity as I view what I am working on through the year.
